Overview / Comments

This building was constructed in 1803. When Maine became a state in 1820, this became the York County Jail. Some of the interior walls are the outside logs that made up cell walls. An interesting and unique part of early Maine heritage. There is a plaque inside the front entry to showcase this detail.

The layout boasts 3 floors with approximately 2000 sf on each floor.
1st floor features a double door entry, a welcome or reception area, several offices, a kitchenette (or staff break room area) and a restroom. The 2nd & 3rd floors provide large open and spacious areas and offices spaces.

The building features conference room or office with what appears to be an original fireplace. This former jail show cases massive and historic logs, some that are more than 15 inches in diameter, that make up some of the interior walls and ceiling beams. Several windows (most all are newer replacement windows) on each floor, providing abundant natural light. Building also features two interior and nicely wide stair cases, on each level, great layout for multiple tenant access and egress.

The history and structural grandness of this property are sure to appeal to a variety of businesses.
